The dining room has this hideous huge brass light fixture that I couldn’t take down. I got three strings of fairy lights from Target ($1.99 each I think) and an ac adapter that fits a light socket (photo after the jump) from the hardware store. I strung the lights around the chandelier, took all the bulbs out and plugged the fairy lights into the socket. You could plug it into a normal outlet but this way you can use the usual wall switch to turn it on and off. (via Apartment Therapy)
